TT Automatic Sans Serif Font – The initial idea came about during our time in Amsterdam when one of us took an official electric taxi ride to Schiphol Airport. While on our travels we were thinking about designing a wide sans-serif font, an interesting question arose regarding autonomous electric transportation – what font would symbolize it. Therefore, the font family “TT Autonomous” was developed.
It is a modern sans-serif that stands out visually with its angular inner space and square characters, tending towards monospaced appearance yet actually not being so. The width of characters was inspired by car logotype proportions which tend to be wide. Software code lines for autonomous cars have traditionally been typed using monospaced fonts, making this an important point.
We therefore created a monospaced subfamily of the TT Autonomous family with unique and interesting character forms thanks to both squareness and monospace properties; especially true of true italic fonts within this subfamily.
