Scotch Modern Font

Scotch Modern Font Family was an evolved from Didone classification and Scotch Roman, becoming the default type genre in 19th-century. Boasting pot hook serifs and tiny apertures, Scotch Modern soon became a dominant style genre. Nick Shinn has revitalized 10-point type by using it in a scientific report from 1873 and hand drawing refined vector drawings of this timeless classic – without using scans as reference points.

Scotch Modern was an elegant typeface popularized in Victorian books, magazines and advertisements but disapproved of by both Arts & Crafts and modernists of the 20th Century. Furthermore, it never met their requirements for hot metal typesetting, phototypesetting or digital media formats. OpenType fonts enable a range of typographic expression.

Compatible with Western and CE encodings as well as Cyrillic, Bulgarian and Polytonic Greek characters, these fonts come equipped with features like small caps and unicase along with both vertical fractions (slashed) and horizontal fractions (nutted).
