Oskar sans serif font is a series of clean fonts featuring sharp glyphs. The font was inspired by Dutch commercial and architectural lettering from the early 20th century; such as those painted onto shopfronts or walls or produced using metal. Oskar was not simply a printing typeface; his style evolved over time through cultivation by architects, sign painters, and draftsmen.
Oskar created his first version for use in 2002 in lettering a heritage-protected The Hague school designed by Jan Duiker 29 years earlier. Oskar family has since been expanded to encompass multiple styles and weights. Oskar comes in two distinct “flavors,” One and Two – each featuring three weights with variants for inline display text.
Oskar One features Dutch 1920s lettering with expressive letterforms and pointy apices, while Oskar Two offers more geometric sans serif features while still reflecting Art Deco styles. Oskar makes an excellent display font suitable for use both facades and screens alike.
