Lato is a sans serif typeface household began inside the summer season of 2010 by Warsaw-based designer Lukasz Dziedzic (“Lato” indicates “Summer” in Polish). In December 2010 the Lato loved ones was published under the Open Font License by his foundry tyPoland, with help from Google.
Within the final ten or so years, for the duration of which Lukasz has been designing variety, most of his projects have been rooted in a particular design task that he necessary to resolve. With Lato, it was no unique. Initially, the family was conceived as a set of corporate fonts for a big client – who in the long run decided to go in different stylistic direction, so the family became out there to get a public release.
Update, August 2014: The previous version of Lato incorporated Extended Latin characters within the Latin subset. For anyone who is experiencing complications, please select the Extended Latin (latin-ext) subset to render all European languages appropriately.
