For Empirica, Tobias Frere Jones and Nina Stossinger spent several months researching and crafting this family of six italicized weights, then created six types from elegant heaviness to thickness that ligatures create a narrowing of line spacing even for high headline lengths on bold stacks due to their short descenders.
