Build The Build Family is an organic sans serif font family that features modern classic, playful and classical features in an inimitable mix. Herbert Bayer, graphic designer and master of the Bauhaus typography workshop from 1925 until 1928, took inspiration for this font from studies to create a universal font created during his studies of creating one universal typeface.
Bayer even went so far as snubbing upper case letters to minimize its appearance to its core elements. Universal is more than just a typeface; it is a statement and tribute to geometry as well as reduction. Bayer decided to eliminate terminals at the junction between bowl and stem for letters b, P, Q, N and m so as to achieve more circular curvatures; this feature remains in ES Build but offers more subtle interpretation within text.
Geometric in style with optical corrections added for aesthetic purposes, ES Build stands out from its reference font by offering upper case letters as well as 675 characters that make up its full alphabetic range compared to Bayer’s intended style. A variable size font file is included when purchasing the whole family from ES Build and may also be requested by purchaser.
