Pizza Hut font is an American Fast Food franchise and international franchise offering Italian-American cuisine. Their menu consists of pizzas, side dishes, desserts and pasta – with its first point opening up shop in Wichita in 1962 under brothers Dan and Frank Carney. As of January 2020, this pizza chain boasted 18700 restaurants worldwide (according to Richtopia).
Two brothers from Wichita State University opened an Italian pizzeria near their hometown and later on went on to establish more locations throughout their career. Six months later, they opened a second restaurant, eventually growing to nine by 1959 when Dan and Frank switched to franchising. Later (in 1963), architect George Lindstrom from Chicago designed the iconic Pizza Hut building design. PepsiCo bought the restaurant chain from CPI in 1977.
After 20 years, Pizza Hut joined two other food chains – Kentucky Fried Chicken and Taco Bell in leaving their parent corporation and creating Tricon Global Restaurants, Inc. A few years later, however, this changed again into Yum Brands which will become operational by spring 2020.
