Black Flag was formed in California in 1976, and is generally recognized as one of the earliest hardcore punk bands. Raymond Pettibon created its distinctive logo; which depicts a stylized four-bar black flag bearing the name and is written out using Ernst Friz Quadrata Bold Font.
